My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. John 10:29
What is a shepherd? A shepherd is someone who takes care of sheep.
What does a shepherd do? Their job is to make sure that the sheep are well fed, their needs are taken care of, keeps them groomed and kept safe. The shepherd is also responsible for leading the sheep in the direction he wants them to go.
Just how the shepherd takes care of his sheep, is the same way Jesus takes care of us, his sheep. That's right, Jesus is the shepherd and we are his sheep.
God has specifically handpicked those such as yourself to be apart of Jesus' flock. He is the one that keeps us safe, the one that provides our need, and teaches us his ways.
Just like the sheep follow and obey their shepherd and listens only to his voice, we are the same way when it comes to Jesus. Since we belong to Jesus, our shepherd, no one can take us away from him. NO ONE!
Did you know that if one sheep leaves the flock and goes their own way that Jesus would leave the whole flock that is still following him just to go save that one lost sheep? Yup, that shows how much Jesus loves us. Even when we want to go our separate way, Jesus will always come and find us to bring us back because we belong to him.
We must be aware of those that pretend to belong to Jesus' flock but really don't. The Bible describes them as wolves dressed in sheep's clothing. (Matthew 7:15) These are the ones that want to scatter you away from the flock by distracting you with things(money, popularity,etc.,). But we must keep our focus on Jesus at all times so that we won't be deceived. We stay focus by constantly praying, reading our Bible, and being obedient to Jesus' ways.
