Jacob and Esau

Rebekah and Isaac had two sons that were twins. Their name was Jacob and Esau. Esau was born first and was very hair and red. When the two boys grew up, Jacob stayed in the tent and Esau became a hunter.

Jacob Tricks Esau

Jacob was cooking some red stew and  Esau just came home from hunting and he was very hungry. He told his brother to fix him some stew but Jacob said, "First you must sell me your birth right." But Esau despised his birthrights and said,"What is a birthright to me if I am dead?" So Esau sold his birthright to his brother.

Jacob Tricks Isaac

When Issac was very old and he could no longer see, he called for his son Esau to give him his blessings. He told Esau to cook him a tasty meal and then he will bless him. But Rebekah was listening to them the whole time and told Isaac what she had heard. Rebekah told him to get two goats so that she can prepare a meal for Isaac. Next, she took some of Esau's clothes and put them on Jacob and some goat hair and put them on his hands and neck then gave him the soup and the bread to give to his father.

 

After Isaac was finished eating the soup, he gave Jacob his blessings.He thought that he was blessing his son Esau because Jacob smelled like him and was hairy like him.

Jacob Flees to Laban's House

When Esau came back home from hunting and preparing the meal for his father, he noticed what had happened. He became very angry and asked his father to bless him too but it was too late. Esau held a grudge against his brother and even thought about killing him. Rebekah told Jacob to flee to her brother's house Laban because she feared that Esau would kill Jacob. 

 

As Jacob journey to his uncle Laban's house, he stop to get some rest. He found a stone and laid on it tgo to sleep. WHile asleep, JOseoh had a dream. Jacob dreamed that there was ladder from the earth to heaven. And on this ladder, he assaw the angels going up and coming down. The the Lord spoke to Isaac in his dream and told him that he will have many descendents. When Isaac awaken from his dream he said, "Surely the Lord is in this place. But I did not know it ." Jacob was afraid and the next morning he got up and set up th estone he was lying on, piured annointed oil on it and called the place Bethel.When Jacob arrived at his uncle Laban's house, he was welcomed in. Jacob told his uncle all that happen. After staying with his uncle for awhile, the Uncle asked Jacob how much would he like to be paid. But Jacob did not want money. He requested to work for seven years only if he can marry Rachel, Laban's daughter.

When Jacob arrived in his uncle's country, he met some shepherds that needed help moving a stone. There he discovered that Rachel and Leah were his cousins. Rachel took Jacob to meet her father, Laban.

Rachel led Jacob to meet her father who was happy to see him. Jacob told his uncle everything that had happened.

 

 

Laban Tricks Jacob

After Jacob had stayed with his uncle for a month, his uncle asked, "How much would you like to be paid? You should not work for free because your family."  Now Jacob was in love with Rachel because she was very beautiful. So he said, "I'll work for you for seven years if you let me marry Rachel." And Laban agreed.

When the time came for Jacob to marry Rachel, Laban brought together a wedding feast. The next morning when Jacob woke up, he realized that he did not marry Rachel but her sister Leah. When Jacob confronted Laban about the matter, Laban told him that it was not their custom to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older one. He also told Jacob to work for him another seven years if he would like to marry Rachel and Jacob agreed because he loved Rachel so much After Jacob completed his seven years, he finally married Rachel.
