To be humble takes practice but it is a characteristic that we need to develop. Being humble is to make yourself lower than others.

What is humility like? To know what humility is like, just look at the scripture below. Jesus left us the perfect model on how to be humble.

Philippians 2:1-5

Does your life in Christ give you strength? Does his love comfort you? Do we share together in the Spirit? Do you have mercy and kindness? If so, make me very happy by having the same thoughts, sharing the same love, and having one mind and purpose.  When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride be your guide. Be humble and give more honor to others than to yourselves. Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others.

To walk in humility is to not allow pride to guide your steps.  Being led by pride keeps you from being humble. Pride allows you to develop the wrong thinking, for instance, making yourself better than others, or to do things or not to do things for the wrong reasons.

Placing Yourself Last

We don't always have to be in a rush to be first or always speak of ourselves and we shouldn't continually put our needs before others. When Jesus came to earth from Heaven, he clearly stated, "For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me." (John 6:38) This meant that his Father's will is more pleasing to him than his own needs.
