More than 14.8 million American adults suffer from depression a year. This illness can cause sleep problems, a change in appetite, a decrease in energy or fatigue, difficult to concentrate and even promote the thoughts of suicide. But the fact of the matter is that when Jesus isn't your spiritual foundation, it brings about destructive thoughts and impaired vision. Jesus explains to us in Matthew 11:28 how when we draw near to him, he'll take away our burdens ("Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28) When you fall victim to depression you allow the devil to have ownership of your life. Depression develops a posture of self-pity, which in turn feed the need to submerge yourself even deeper into a depressed state of mind. Instead of seeing the blessed life around you, it blinds your vision of joy and causes you to see life through the lens of dysfunction. A depressing outlook on life will change your demeanor of living with a purpose into living with a perspective of hopelessness. So change your viewpoint on life and allow Jesus to invade your heart. Here are some bible verses that would help you detach from a "Spirit of Depression" and Reconstruct the brokenness that has hindered joy from existing in your life.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
2 Samuel 22:29 You, LORD, are my lamp; the LORD turns my darkness into light.
James 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
